Apex Lifts has been awarded Planet Mark Business Certification for the fourth year running, and this year we have gone further than ever before. Planet Mark is an internationally recognised sustainability certification that measures and verifies carbon emissions for organisations like ours.

Our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, which cover the fuel we burn and the electricity we buy, fell by 22.1%. Both of our buildings now operate on a zero-carbon electricity tariff, and there is less diesel being used across our fleet.

We have also taken great strides in measuring our Scope 3 emissions.

Scope 3 covers emissions that happen around a business rather than inside it, including waste, business travel, the supply chain behind our fuel, and how people travel to work. It is often the most difficult part of a carbon footprint to measure, but also one of the most important.

This year, we started measuring employee commuting for the first time and improved the data behind our waste, travel, and energy reporting. Expanding our Scope 3 reporting to include commuting was a commitment set out in our Climate Transition Plan, and we have now delivered it. The same plan commits us to a 25% reduction in emissions by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050.

What This Means For Our Customers

The carbon emissions generated while maintaining and servicing your lifts contribute to your wider environmental impact too. By improving our reporting, we can now provide even more accurate and verified data.

Our Planet Mark certification also reflects our commitment to continuously improving how we operate and reducing our environmental impact wherever possible.

“Cutting our emissions is simply part of running a modern lift business properly. Our customers are increasingly accountable for the carbon in their own buildings and across the estates they manage, so the decisions we make about how we operate show up in their figures as well as ours. But this goes beyond our customers. Climate change affects all of us, and every business has a responsibility to play its part in protecting the communities we serve and leaving a better world for future generations. Four years of Planet Mark certification, and measuring more of our impact than ever before, shows we are serious about doing that.” Steve Chesney, Managing Director.
