Last weekend, our Construction Direcctor, Gary Poynter and our Payroll Administrator, Nina Poynter, cycled with their Sidcup Cycling group to Brussels from London.
The group stopped via Ypres (Ieper), the battlefield and now burial site of thousands of World War I Commonwealth Soldiers.
"You are taken aback by how many people are buried there, and so many that are undiscovered." - Gary Poynter, Construction Director.
They also visited The Menin Gate, a large gate-like structure which the soldiers would've passed under heading into battle. On the stone walls of The Menin Gate, are an estimated 55,000 names of missing soldiers who died in the area between 1914-1917.
The cycle ride from London to Brussels was a challenging 340 miles! The team even had a van following them with clothes and back-up supplies... A huge well-done to Gary and Nina for completing such a long, yet educational bike ride.
