Meet the Team - Soni Fenton-Scott

08 November 2016

How long have you worked at Apex Lifts?
I've only worked at Apex for two weeks, however it feels like I’ve always been here, thanks to all the staff being so kind and making me feel very welcome.

What’s your background? i.e. qualifications, past experience
Following the successful completion of a 2 year Lift Engineering course at Bromley College, I was awarded a BTEC in Lift Engineering.  I also hold EOR202 Safe Working on Lifts, enabling me to safely undertake surveys on lift equipment.
I have over 20 years’ experience within the lift industry, originally starting with a large international lift company in January 1996, before branching out into the independent market in January 1998.

What does your day-to-day job involve?

I am the Service Sales Manager for Apex Lifts and it’s my responsibility to grow the company and meet new prospective clients.

We cover London and the South East region of the UK, meaning that my job involves travelling and attending meetings with different types of people and within different environments.  For example, I could be attending a meeting with a Facilities Manager/Director at a large corporate organisation in the City of London, or I could be sitting drinking tea with the home owner of a residential property. I love working within the lift industry as every day is varied and different.

I also undertake lift surveys and have been referred to as the David Bailey of the lift industry, as I love a photo of a lift!

What’s your favourite part of the job?
I enjoy meeting new people and building long term business relationships.

What was the best project you worked on?

My most prestigious contract win was Stansted Airport.

What’s your favourite building in London?
85 Albert Embankment – the Secret Intelligence Service MI6, keep it schtum!

What are your interests outside of work?

I’m a Technical Scuba Diver and dive every weekend all year round in the UK.  I hold a PADI TEC50 Qualification and can be found diving either inland lakes or off the back of a boat along the South Coast, exploring one of the many shipwrecks from World War I & II. I’ve even come across some shipwrecks from as far back as the 18th Century. I’m also a keen cyclist, although a little bigger than the average.
And last of all – but not least – I love dogs and have two Border Collies, named Sam and Nel.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Obsessive Compulsive Diver.

If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would that be? (celebrity, historical figure, friend etc.)
I’m a big Stallone fan and met him in Leicester Square in 2006 at the opening of Rocky Balboa, so it would have be Sylvester Stallone.

We’re off to the pub – what’s your order?
Bulmers Pear Cider.

Favourite biscuit?
NICE
