Meet the team - Warren Jenchner

20 May 2016

How long have you worked at Apex Lifts?

All my life, including school holidays when I was growing up. I left school at 15 years old and went straight into my lift apprenticeship.

What’s your background? i.e. qualifications, past experience?
I’m an indentured apprentice trained lift engineer – originally working on lift modernisation projects and progressing to work in repairs, sales, supervisor role and management.

What does your day-to-day job involve?
Everything and anything, there is no typical day - from collecting the milk in the morning to Director’s meetings, client interviews and site visits and audits. With such a great team in place across all departments it really takes the pressure off.

What’s your favourite part of the job?
The variety of work and that no day is the same.

What was the best project you worked on?
Lift replacement projects at Windsor Castle after the devastating fire there, Lloyd’s of London building, and the Thames Barrier.

What’s your favourite building in London?
This is a difficult one – there are so many – I’ve grown to love the Gherkin, Institute of Directors 116 Pall Mall and The Shard (when they get round to finishing it…)

What are your interests outside of work?
Family, cycling and West Ham United F.C.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Determined, honourable and sharp.

We’re off to the pub – what’s your order?
A glass of red wine – make it a large one.

Favourite biscuit?
Bourbon creams
