It was an early start for the Apex team, as a group gathered at Birchwood Park Golf Course for the Apex Lifts Annual Construction Golf Day on 22 July 2016.
After a full English breakfast, the team and some guests set about the course in groups of four for a game of Texas Scramble. Some excellent golf was played and, some terrible golf too in good measure! Strategy, as always, played a key part and the team captains were under pressure to choose their members wisely.
As the game drew to an end and the heat began to take its toll on some players, the teams exhaustedly headed to the club house and enjoyed a delicious lunch, whilst the scores were totted up. The presentations shortly followed with tournament organiser Gary Ager handing out the prizes, which were as follows:
Other prizes went to Oli Roworth, who won a set of plastic clubs for Last Place. Third place went to Tom Jerome, second place went to Mick Desmond & first place went to Peter Hambrook, who came out of retirement to join the Apex team.
Finally, John Roberts was the proud winner of the Peter Hambrook Challenge Trophy, having taken part and winning a putting competition played with the opposite hand.
Apex would like to congratulate everyone that took part and praises all the day’s winners.
