Apex Lifts' engineer, Tony Wykes, celebrates spending over 25 years with the company.
We met with Tony to discuss his time here at Apex over the years...
Tony started at Apex Lifts in 1993, working for the Repairs Department as an assistant on-site. Tony stayed in his first role for two years until moving on to complete lift modules. He continued to work in various departments throughout the business to include repairs, servicing, call outs and elements of construction.
After completing training and being awarded with an EMTA (Engineering and Marine Training Academy) certification for the modules, in addition to a Level 3 City & Guilds certification in requirements for electrical installations, Tony was offered the position to work as a Repair Engineer, which he accepted and continued to work in the position for 18 years!
Following this, an opportunity within the Service Department arose for Tony. The job consisted of undertaking the regular and consistent planned preventative lift maintenance and servicing for several Royal Households. Tony carried out this contract for over 5 years and says that working within the many prestigious and heritage buildings were his favourite to work in throughout the duration of his career to date.
When asked what his favourite part about working for Apex Lifts is, Tony said: "The family atmosphere the company creates. From the start I've always felt part of a family...I even spent a day on holiday with Apex Lifts' Co-Founder Arthur Jenchner once!"
Apex Lifts thank Tony for his continued hard work and dedication to the company across the span of the 26 years he has spent here.
